Giza, Egypt
The long-awaited Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza will finally open in 2023. It will be the world's largest archaeological museum with a vast display of objects excavated from the tomb of Tutankhamun.
Loire Valley, France
If you need an excuse to visit Loire Valley outside of the magnificent scenery and historic chateaux, then be among the first to visit Saint-Hubert chapel, resting place of Leonardo De Vinci, when it reopens this year after a two year renovation. Vienna, Austria
The Viennese ball season is back after a two year hiatus, including a fabulous black-tie event at Vienna Opera House. Later in the year, Hoxton is due to open its first Viennese hotel in Stadtpark. It will occupy a fantastic 1950s modernist building that was the former headquarters of Austria’s Chamber of Commerce.
Marrakech, Morocco
Global brand Nobu Hospitality expands into Africa for the first time this year with an opening in Marrakech. Situated in the historic heart of the city, close to the souks and vibrant Djemaa el-Fna, the luxury hotel will blend Moroccan craftsmanship with contemporary Japanese touches. Elsewhere, there are 10 brand new rooms at stylish mainstay El Fenn.
Antigua, Guatemala
Guatemala’s former capital is the best-preserved Spanish colonial city in Central America. With its ideal climate of ‘eternal spring’, romantic architecture and bustling downtown, it’s one of our favourite destinations on this list – and now there’s a luxury accommodation option. Recently opened on the outskirts of the city’s cobbled downtown is Villa Bokeh, a chic boutique hotel in a lush garden.
